Wessex Scene (formerly Wessex News, prior to 1996) is the oldest student news provider at the University of Southampton, and has been in print since 1936.
We’ve evolved over the years and now take the forms of this online news site and a monthly magazine publication, available across the campuses and Halls of Residence of the university. We’re the leading media outlet at the University of Southampton, and have won multiple awards and conducted dozens of prestigious interviews.
The Scene is written and edited by students, for students, and is always looking to welcome new writers, photographers, designers, researchers and illustrators. No experience is necessary, only a desire to bring the best content to students.
